Richard Craig

Proprietor of RMC Classics Ltd

It's fair to say that Richard Craig, proprietor of RMC Classics, has petrol running through his veins!

From an early age, he has had a keen interest in anything relating to classics. Having bought his first car for a mere £50 at the age of 12, he worked his way up through a series of classic vehicles, gaining valuable knowledge, understanding and experience along the way.

Originally from the Lake District, Richard set up this business whilst studying Classical Music at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester - yes, that’s his other passion! Since then, RMC Classics have traded and maintained hundreds of vehicles and pride themselves on top-quality service and customer satisfaction.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys tinkering with his own projects – chief among which is his 1967 Mk1 MGB GT, ‘Meg’, which he has owned for over fifteen years, along with a ListerBell Lancia Stratos recreation, and a 1952 Vincent Black Shadow motorcycle.

Testimonials

"We recently engaged Richard of RMC Classics to sell our 1963 Austin Healey 3000 MkII which had been in our family since 1975, and I have nothing but praise for the way he dealt with the sale and preparation process. The car hadn't been used for a while and required some minor "fettling" to get it back on the road. Richard replaced the distributor and leads, reset the carbs and then drove the car to his workshop to prepare it for sale, where he cleaned and photographed it, placing advertisements on classic car websites. The copy he wrote was excellent and very honest.

The car sold after a few weeks to a lovely guy from the south of England who I know will give it the care and love it deserves. The process of the sale (which could have been a sad one as the Healey had been part of the family for almost 50 years) itself was very positive; the Healey returned to the South of England (from whence it came in 1975 when my Dad bought it) on a beautiful sunny May afternoon. The new owner was also very impressed by Richard and the service from RMC Classics.

Richard is a great guy to deal with. He is friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about classic cars. I highly recommend RMC Classics and I am very pleased that we used them to sell the Healey."

"Buying a car can be stressful - and when you are new to classics, it is truly daunting but it was an absolute pleasure purchasing from Richard at RMC Classics.

Expertise, honesty and integrity is what you want from a classic car company and RMC Classics have that in spades as they honestly cared that I left with the right car that suited my needs and wouldn’t have sold me something that wasn’t just right. Classic car opportunities can be rather fleeting but Richard brought the car to my attention, answered every question with lots of photos, kept me fully up to date and gave me as much time as I needed to be sure THIS was the car and I couldn’t be more pleased.

The purchase was as smooth, professional and personal as all my encounters with RMC Classics and with the quality of the after-sales advice and support, I could not recommend Richard and RMC Classics more highly!"

"After some 15 years I decided to have another classic and always fancied an MG. I searched for a few weeks and found some "not as described" vehicles. Then I come across a very honest looking advert. A factual advert which got my attention.

Subsequently, I spoke with Richard and viewed the MGB GT. It was as described,  he took the time to assist me in every way I needed before, during and after the sale.

It's been a very enjoyable purchase and I'm a very happy owner of the MG. RMC Classics come with my highest recommendation, thank you Richard I'm certain our paths with cross again sometime!

Take care, Nick"

"A quick note to let you know I’m so pleased with the MGB purchased from you last week, it’s growing on me by the day.

I’ve been hankering after a Roadster Mk2  for a few years then decided to buy one a few months back. After trawling many averts on the internet and seeing a couple, this one seemed to fit the bill. It was really well presented in your advert and at a reasonable price for a Heritage bodyshell car compared to some you come across. Being local I was lucky enough to view it within hours and blown away by the car. It looked even better in the flesh than it did in the pictures in every respect, paint structure, interior, etc. That coupled with your honest detailed description and in depth knowledge meant I was not going to leave without it.

The wife loves it too and pleased I’m out from under her feet tinkering in the garage.

Thanks again Richard, top car, top bloke, would recommend to anyone."

"Many thanks Richard for making the sale of our Jaguar MKII so quick and easy. Nothing seemed too much trouble for you and you were always available to answer anyone's questions. It was a pleasure dealing with such an honourable and trustworthy professional - we were 100% confident and content throughout. We will definitely come to you again."

"I had been looking for a classic car for about 4 years, and in that time wasted many hours going to see cars which were not what the owners had claimed they were. I was getting to the point where I was going to give up looking.

I found RMC Classics online and saw the cars for sale which were 2 MG Midgets. Both of them looked great in the photos, but I thought 'here we go again...'. I spoke to Richard and he seemed like a very up front and honest chap so I made the decision to hire a trailer and head up to see him.

Richard's photos, description and explanation on the phone was spot on and within the hour he was helping me get the car on my trailer.

Dealing with Richard has been an absolute pleasure and I would thoroughly recommend RMC Classics to everyone."

"I'm writing to give a massive shout out to Richard at RMC Classics.

Sadly, our trip from Manchester to France earlier this year was cut short before it began, as the tangerine decided to break down 45 minutes from Portsmouth. Bum! Thankfully, after being relayed home, courtesy of Lancaster Insurance, we started our holiday 24 hours late in the daily driver (just not the same). (Brittany Ferries were superb in reorganising things as well).

Anyway, after our holiday, Richard paid us a home visit, diagnosed the problem immediately; arranged to get the car taken to his, and fixed what transpired to be a failed head gasket. He took great care over the repair, sorted out a few other bits and bobs at the same time, and even gave the old girl a wash too.

It's not the first time we've used Richard, and it certainly won't be the last. He definitely knows his stuff (having rebuilt at least one BGT completely), is very reasonable, and really friendly too. A top chap!"

"As we bid a fond farewell to Dad's Stratos, heading for its new home in Hong Kong, we would like to thank you for making the sale smooth and trouble-free. It was a difficult decision to part with Dad's Stratos and we're very grateful for your patience and understanding during our decision making. We have been overwhelmed by the kind words and gestures from yourself, along with your knowledge and passion for the cars."

"Thank you so much for your help, patience & the kindness you have shown to us through this difficult time, it has been very much appreciated."

"I would like to thank you so much for all your efforts in reaching a great result on behalf of us girls. I have been very touched by your kindness, consideration & unwavering commitment in keeping us informed of all developments."
