1998 Rover Mini Cooper Sport

£4250

Well, where do I start? This lovely little 1998 Mini Cooper Sport has an MOT until April 2015, and is taxed until September. I bought this car to use to take my sister to her wedding, so the car is now available for sale again as I currently have two other Minis!
Genuine 65,000 miles from new, as backed up by the service history. This car was originally owned by Rowntrees in Blackpool as a company car. Two of the owners were actually husband and wife, same address and family but obvious changed names.

Being a Sport, this comes fully loaded with all of the extra factory options. Obviously, the Sportspack – so, wide wheel and arches, four spotlamps, along with four leather seats and much much more! The car has recently had a brand new pair of sills fitted (proper vented ones, not just coversills!), and has got Spax adjustables on the rear – original Koni replacement shocks are no longer available, so this is classed as an ‘original’ part for insurance purposes. The car has a CD player fitted, and all of the electrics work exactly as they should – including the immobiliser.

Bodily, the car is pretty tidy for an example of this age. Yes, there are a few areas of bubbling and blistering but as you can see from the pics, this is perfectly usable as it is, and you can just improve as and when you need it. Door bottoms are both nice and solid, although the boot is a bit rusty around the hinges. You should be able to see all of the grot-spots in the high res pictures below. Note there is a bit of a scuff on the passenger rear wheelarch, but again, that’s a dead easy job and it’s not going to get any worse, anyway.

The tyres all have good tread, and the Sportspack alloys are in good shape. The car stops in a straight line, pulls well. The engine sounds very sweet indeed, and the gearbox selects all gears nicely, without any crunches, and doesn’t jump out of gear either, like most Minis seem to! The interior is all nice and tidy – the leather seats are in super condition, as are the carpets.

This is a bargain price for a fantastic car which attracts a great deal of attention wherever it goes. Obviously it’s not a concourse show car but it’s generally very good indeed, but is ready to use and enjoy You must remember that running a Mini isn’t like a modern Japanese Honda or equivalent – there will be bits and bobs to do from time to time, but generally you’ll be able to fix it yourself, because they’re so simple!
