Another fantastic little round wheelarch (RWA) Midget. These are rocketing up in value at the moment so grab one at a good-value price whilst you still can! Round Wheelarch (RWA) Midgets are very highly regarded in classic car circles – they are seen to be one of the most fun, enjoyable small British Sports Cars available and it could be said that they are the most desirable of the Midget range.
This car was owned by a chap who worked at a leading MG spares company, and the car has been well cared-for. It’s had a great deal of work carried out over the past couple of years which I’ll detail further on in the ad.
The car is MOTd until October 2015, and it is tax exempt of course! Recently, the car has had the following major works:
-
· Complete floor pans and crossmembers
-
· New sills (inner and outer)
-
· Replacement wing sections (required when doing the sills properly!)
-
· Spring hanger
-
· New hood
-
Much more!
The car starts, runs and drives fantastically! It’s had the suspension lowering kit fitted so it sits slightly lower to the ground. However, it still rides very well and handles like a dream!
Bodywork
In one word – great. The lines of the car are completely unspoilt. The paint finish is good, and the complete sides were repainted when the sills were done to avoid any colour-match issues. Structurally, there are no worries at all. Of course, it’s not a perfect show car but the outward appearance is very good as you can see from the pictures.
The brightwork is all in good order with no dinks or twists. The wheels are in OK condition but the polished rims are beginning to corrode a bit so I would probably have the wheels repainted at some point – however it’s by no means bad! Please note that 4 wheel centre caps are included in the sale – I just forgot to fit them all for the pictures!
Interior
The seats are fantastic, new carpets have been fitted, along with refurbished dashboard. A moto-lita wheel is fitted. Door cards etc are all in good order.
Engine and Gearbox
Engine starts readily and runs well, ticking over quietly, as it should. Exhaust note (stainless steel!) is lovely and the car pulls and drives as it should. There are no nasty whines or grinding in the gearbox, and the rear axle is nice and quiet. Oil pressure is as it should be, and the car does not overheat.
Weather Equipment
The hood is in excellent order, and only recently fitted. Hood frame is great, too. Also included is a hood cover.
All in all, this is an absolutely cracking little car that is absolutely ready to be used and enjoyed. I’ve had a lot of Midgets through my hands and this is a good one – perfect for regular use. The V5 and MOT are both present and the car is ready to drive away. Sadly there isn’t a lot in the way of bills and receipts/history etc.
