These Cooper Sport 500s are currently one of the fastest appreciating classics around. It’s priced sensibly and is competitive with similar cars on the market. I will advertise the car for a couple of weeks, and if no serious interest comes about I will be mothballing the car or winter and re-advertising next spring. I’m in no hurry to sell, as it’s a joy to own!

This one-owner, 41,000 mile car is one of the final five hundred classic Minis to be produced. Complete with original dealer bag, certificate and manuals etc, it’s ready to go. The car was bought to replace a Mini Cooper RSP and was used locally by its owner. I was lucky enough to purchase the car earlier in the year, but as I run a classic car business, the V5 document still states zero previous owners.

The car has recently undergone a thorough recommissioning at South Lakeland Mini Centre. Mark at the SLMC is one of the most knowledgeable guys when it comes to late Rover Minis, having been heavily involved since they were new. Mark owns an unregistered Sport 500 and there’s not much he doesn’t know about these cars.

As you can see, the car presents itself very well indeed. Painted in Anthracite (incidentally, the rarest colour, with only 108 being made in this shade), the bodywork is in very good order. The paint finish is fantastic. Structurally, the car’s nice and solid - it was decided that it would be best to cut out and replace the sills (inner and outer), and the car also had a new rear valence. There will be no worries for many years to come!

The car has just flown through an MOT with no advisories, and fires up and drives beautifully. No synchromesh issues, and the car pulls like a train. New brakes all round. Mark paid a lot of attention to detail on the finishing touches, which include new-old-stock Cooper Laurels and pinstriping, NOS Spot and Fog lamps, bumpers – the list goes on and on!

If you’re after a really well-sorted Sportspack Mini, that’s ready to use, but is also a fantastic investment, then this is the car for you. So many Minis of this age have been messed around with beyond recognition, so it’s nice to see one ‘as God intended’. Obviously this isn’t a concourse show-car, but it’s very tidy indeed and it’s not the usual rubbish.

The car is located near Ulverston, South Cumbria and is available for viewing for seriously interested parties. I currently live in Manchester 4 or 5 days per week but am happy to travel up to show and prospective buyers around the car.
