Priced at £6395 – an absolute bargain, especially with the way MGB Roadster values are moving! This example will come with 12 months MOT (should be done over the next week or so), and is exempt from tax. If you’re after an original, un-messed with MGB, this is probably the car for you.

ONE OWNER and only 81,000 miles from new – and you can tell! Supplied by Oliver Rix Garages Ltd, of Newcastle Under Lyme on 5/4/1973. The car has just never been messed around with, like so many of these cars are. Comes with original ‘Passport to Service’ which contains the owner’s name and address.

Bodily, the car is very solid indeed – as you can see from the pictures. It has had a respray at some point in the past 5 years – the car apparently didn’t need any bodywork, it was just that the old paint had faded badly.

The door bottoms are all in great shape (sorry about the water droplets in the pics of the door-bottoms), as is the bottom of the boot lid. I would say that the car has had a new pair of front wings over the past few years but I don’t have a bill for this. The close up pics are just to show you the panels in more detail – not highlighting any particular grot-spots! The paint has a fantastic shine, but don’t come expecting a concourse car.

The car runs and drives well – the brakes function well and the car stops in a straight line. The non-overdrive gearbox is nice and there are no nasty graunches or whines. The steering is nice and tight, and the car rides well. Recent tyres fitted all round (Hankook).

The interior is in good order, too, with no obvious rips and tears in the seats. The hood has only recently been fitted, and fits very well. The seat foams are a little tired, but the carpets look to have been replaced in recent years. A Moto-Lita steering wheel is fiited.

This is a bargain price for a fantastic car which has a lot going for it. Obviously it’s not a concourse car but it’s very nice, and won’t be requiring any significant works for a good while. It’s now a very usable, enjoyable car which is capable of use on A roads in traffic, etc. The car starts on the button every time.
