1973 MGB GT - Mallard Green

There’s nothing quite like an early 70s MGB GT. The perfect mix between 60s sportscar design and the refinements of the later cars. These cars are a fantastic investment, with prices rising all of the time.

This car is no exception, and I feel you’ll struggle to find a better one for this price. It’s had a great deal of restoration work over recent years, which I will detail throughout the ad. The ‘feel’ of the car, both in terms of build quality and the way that the car drives, clearly shows that the standard of work carried out has been good. I’ve just completed a problem-free weekend of touring around Lancashire in the car, and it’s great fun.

 

MOT until the end of November 2016 and the car is, of course, tax exempt.

 

It’s probably easier for me to list what the car’s had over the past few years:

The car presents very well: the paintwork has a good shine, with no rust issues. The door and wing bottoms are all very solid and the shut lines are great. Wing-top seams are good, and as you can see, the car is structurally sound, and isn’t coated in thick underseal to hide horrors.

 

I have history from the late 1980s up until now, and the car has clearly been well cared for throughout this time.

The interior is very clean and tidy. A Moto-Lita wheel is fitted. The leather seats are in good order, and new carpets have been fitted at some point. The headlining is clean, as are the doorcards. Bear in mind that the wheels and tyres are worth £500 alone, and the steering wheel another £100.

Engine starts readily and runs well, ticking over at around 750rpm, as it should. You can see in the pictures that the engine bay could be tidied up to look very nice indeed. Exhaust note is lovely and the car pulls and drives as it should. Oil pressure is spot-on, and the car does not overheat. Overdrive is fitted, and functions fine.

All in all, this is an absolutely stunning little car that is absolutely ready to be used and enjoyed. You won’t find many cars that have been finished to this standard. I travel all over the country to view these cars and you won’t find a better one for the money.
