1969 Triumph Herald 13/60 Convertible

£££ SOLD £££

We acquired this car from the previous owner, who had had the car for 27 years! In that time, he had spent a great deal of time and money keeping the car in a reliable roadworthy state. It is an original convertible.

The car is MOTd until September 28th 2015, and of course, the tax is free.

Recent work includes:

  • ·         New hood

  • ·         Rebuilt Bonnet

  • ·         Reskinned Doors

  • ·         New Valances

  • ·         Full Respray

  •

  •

  • ·         Spitfire 1500 engine fitted

  • ·         New brake discs and calipers

  • ·         New brake and clutch master cylinders

  • ·         New Radiator

  • ·         Stainless steel exhaust

A few years after the previous owner bought the car, he gave the car a full structural restoration, which included fitting a replacement rear deck. This retains all of the original convertible panels and fittings.

The car is ready to drive away, although please don’t come and expect to see a show car! There are no great lumps of filler, and the car appears to be very structurally solid. The car has been painted at home, so the finish is acceptable, but not a concours job. The car starts readily from cold, and the gears all select well (no synchro on first gear). The gearbox was rebuilt with new synchromesh and bearings etc. It rides well for a Herald! The electrics all work.

It would be ideal for use as an everyday car, or as a toy to slowly improve and tinker with whilst the car is in use. It’s a solid and usable car, which just requires the cosmetics tidying up a little bit. For example, it would benefit from a new set of carpets, and perhaps some more work on the door to bonnet panel fit (usual story with Heralds and Spitfires!). However, it’s very much a case of it needing more time, than needing money thrown at it. I think the pictures give a good representation of the car’s overall condition.

The V5 and MOT are present, along with some old MOTs etc. It drives very nicely, and it’s good fun with the Spitfire 1500 engine which makes it that little bit quicker. The engine was fitted by Mike Papworth, the Triumph specialist. New tyres have recently been fitted.

The car is priced very competitively for a quick sale – don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Also included is a boot full of spares, which includes a car cover.
