This is a really great example of one of Britain’s favourite cars – the Morris Minor. Charming looks, combined with simple mechanicals means that the Moggy was a big hit for almost two decades. It’s cheap to insure for everyone (including youngsters – the Morris Minor Owners Club will be able to supply details for a cheap insurance scheme).

This particular example had one lady owner for 47 years of its life, and has passed through a couple of owners in the past year or two – one being the son of the lady. The car is reputed to have covered 44,000 miles from new.

The car has MOT until the end of July 2015 and is of course tax exempt, so is ready to drive away once insured! It's in great running order. Recent works include five new Bridgestone tyres, a new clutch and a new radiator. The car was also resprayed a couple of years ago.

The car has been in the hands of a enthusiasts, and has been kept in straight, usable order. Structurally the car appears to be absolutely fantastic – the floors, spring hangers, chassis legs, sills etc all appear to be nice and solid. I haven’t re-undersealed the underside so buyers need not worry about hidden horrors. I would recommend having the car undersealed if you plan to use the car everyday, however.

Bodily, the car is nice and straight too. The doors all shut nicely, and the car was resprayed a couple of years ago. However, it’s not a spotless show car – there are some small areas of bubbling but nothing to worry about. To all intents and purposes, this is a healthy, reliable car that could be put into regular use without worry. It’s a true classic car that hasn’t been over-restored and lost its identity. The wings etc are all nice and solid (all steel).

The interior is very original and is in good order. It’s nice to see a car that hasn’t been messed around too much!

Mechanically, the engine starts and runs very healthily indeed. The brakes (along with the handbrake) work fine and the wheels lock up under heavy braking. The gearbox is nice and smooth with no crunches in between gears, and it doesn’t jump out of gear either. It rides very well, with no nasty bumps or rattles like you often get with unkempt examples.

As stated above, there is absolutely nothing to worry about with regard to structure – and this is usually the sticking point with these cars!

This is a bargain price for a fantastic car which attracts a great deal of attention wherever it goes. Obviously it’s not a concourse car but it’s very nice, and won’t be requiring any significant work for a long long while. You’ll be able to see that for yourself when you come to view.
